Festive cheer is in the air at a mystical world which is welcoming chaotic puppets and Father Christmas this month.

Hobbledown adventure park opened its gates last July and has a variety of indoor and outdoor activity areas based on a mystical story about the Hobblers - fictional characters which live in spectacular play structures.

From tunnels and mazes, aerial walkways, an interactive sand play zone and the borough’s first zoo, the park provides a whole host of challenging and exciting expeditions for the family all-year round.

And it has a few festive treats lined up to mark the season of goodwill too.

Hobbledown will be presenting its first Christmas puppet pantomime, The Crazy Chaotic Pie Panto, from December 21 to 31, excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

In a continued attempt to steal the crystallite that produces the energy to keep the animals and hobblers healthy, Skrib and Scrab, two pesky skibblers, formulate their most cunning plan to date.

They need a way to distract all the hobblers to get their hands on the valuable gems.

Knowing that Rumpletump, the greatest creature across Hobbledown has a secret love of custard pies, Skrib and Skrab place hundreds of custard pies around the magical world so that Rumpletump causes disaster as he rampages across the 50-acre adventure park and zoo.

As well as the pantomime, Father Christmas will be welcoming good boys and girls into his grotto in the park until Christmas Eve, and parents can also snap up some creative stocking-fillers in the park’s gift shop.

Even the animals in Hobbledown will be getting into the Christmas spirit - its alpacas will be following in the footsteps of their native descendants and dressing up for winter in a newly refurbished stable-style barn, should the weather take a turn for the worst.

David Long, the park’s general manager, says: "Two days are never the same at Hobbledown, it's a great place.

"I've worked all over the world but before I started here I would never have been able to predict delivering a baby goat at midnight by torchlight.

"We will have long opening hours with lots going on over Christmas.  Santa was invited early enough for us to secure lots of dates with us.

"There’ll be family fun for all ages through play and exercise in disguise."
