Hidden in Tadworth High Street lies an Oriental jewel.

Tiger Lily is a traditional Chinese restaurant which serves quality Cantonese food in a stylish setting.

Guests to the restaurant are greeted by the gracious manager Peggy who is happy to recommend dishes you may be unfamiliar with on their extensive menu.

We started with a plate of mixed starters (£5.50 pp) to get a feel for the place - mounds of crispy seaweed, spare ribs, chicken parcels, and spring rolls and substituted the prawn toast for one of my favourites salt and pepper squid.

For main course we selected twice cooked roast pork in fresh chilli (£5.80), shredded chilli beef (£5.80), and house special noodles (£6) which were super crispy topped with a selection of mixed meats and seafood.

Judging by the number of regulars in the restaurant this is a well liked restaurant and the food was fresh and tasty.

All your favourites are on the menu with crispy duck and pancakes, stuffed crab claws and chicken satay alongside kung po chicken, sweet and sour pork and egg foo young.

I chose a couple of beers to go with my meal - a Chinese Tsing Tao and a Singaporean Tiger - which were excellent.

The restaurant features a lavish buffet lunch on Sundays with their Supreme Menu at £18 a head for a minimum of 4 and an enormous selection of choices.

They also offer a takeaway service and you can even include a bottle of wine at discount prices to take home.

A range of delicious ice creams finishes off a great meal.
