Gin is a great drink all year round - but what if someone made it more Christmassy than you could ever imagine?

Yuletide Gin, from the Boutique-y Gin Company, is not just your regular gin, but it apparently contains extracts of gold, frankincense and myrrh as well as hints of other seasonal ingredients including gingerbread, nutmeg, cloves and even Christmas tree needles. (Yes! pine needles - that's what the manufacturers say).

And, if you're wondering what this concoction actually tastes like, its makers describe it as being like "Christmas pudding in a glass" with a "rich aromatic spiciness" and 'lighter citrus notes".

Yuletide Gin, on sale now, will set you back £34.95. Just imagine all the festive cocktails you can enjoy in the weeks to come!

Another gin on the market is Unicorn Tears which manufacturer Firebox says contains real unicorn tears.

A company spokesman said: “To give Unicorn Tears its unique taste, we humanely force-feed these beautiful beasts entire wheelbarrows of citrus fruit, oranges, juniper berries, bunches of coriander, and sticks of liquorice. We then force down this concoction with a giant glittery pestle, like fantasy foie gras, and reap the tears as they fall.”

Unicorn Tears also has flecks of sparkle in the liquid to make you think you’re drinking a magic potion. A bottle costs £39.99.

Meanwhile, Aldi has launched a pink gin called Gin Lane 1751 as an alternative to the usual gin and tonic at £19.99.

Julie Ashfield, managing director for corporate buying at Aldi, said: “The premium pink trend is more popular than ever, so we’re offering shoppers the chance to jump on this and add something extra special to their drinks cabinets this Christmas."

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

It’s not only gin that Aldi are serving in pink, they have also introduced a Veuve Monsigny Pink Champagne for £15.99 and a Pink Port for £7.99.

Gin sales have increased dramatically in 2017, according to the Wine and Spirit Trade Association.
