A Saxon king will be returning to life to share the secrets of his world famous burial place.
Raedwald will reveal all about his resting place, Sutton Hoo, when he visits the Bourne Hall Museum Club in an afternoon exploring Secrets of the Saxons.
He will tell all about what life was like in his kingdom of East Anglia during the seventh century, and visitors will learn why he was such an esteemed warrior king and how he amassed his treasure
The event aims to keep the king’s audience’s gripped by the iconic tale of Beowulf, as originally told in the king’s great hall, and enable it to discover how fact and fiction merged.
The king will be played by a performer dressed in a full replica of the armour and weapons unearthed at the Sutton Hoo ship burial.
The king will also bring an array of artefacts for visitors to study to shed some light on the so-called dark age of British history.
