Isn't it strange when you come across the same person twice in a matter of hours when before you had hardly heard of them?
That happened to me this week with comedian Rhod Gilbert. Granted I knew he was a comedian and he has appeared in our listings before but I had never actually seen him.
Then on Sunday I saw him on a Live at the Apollo show presented by Michael Mcintyre and found him down right hilarious only to come in to work the next morning and find out he has announced a one-off gig at the Comedy Tree Putney this Sunday.
The Carmathen-born market researcher will be presenting his full-length critically acclaimed show from last year's Edinburgh Festival, Rhod Gilbert and the Award-winning Mince Pie - which was nominated for the main if.comedy award.
Having only begun his comedy career seven years ago, the former market researcher made the finals of So You Think You're Funny in his first year on the circuit and in the 12 months after that won the BBC New Comedy Award, the Paramount Gift Of The Gag competition and the Leicester Comedy Festival comedian of the year title.
Also at Comedy Tree Putney this week will be Canadian Jason Rouse with zany funny man Spencer Brown and Matt Rudge on Thursday night, while on Saturday hilarious Welsh comic Steve Williams, Rouse again and the highly entertaining Pete Jonas will be providing the laughs.
Rouse will also be at Comedy Tree Wimbledon on Saturday, as will fellow Canadian Pete Johannsson and Jonas.
At the Banana Cabaret Tom Stade, Steve Williams and Shazia Mirza will have your side's splitting on Friday night, with Amadeus replacing Mirza for the Saturday night listings.
The line-up at Jongleurs sees Al Pitcher, Addy van der Borgh, Paul Sinha and Annette Fagon entertain on both Friday and Saturday night, with Paul Zerdin also on Friday and David Ward on Saturday.
