World famous authors will head to the Royal Botanic Gardens this month as the Write on Kew returns.

Writers including Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, Michael Rosen, Robert Harris, Rick Stein, Brian Blessed, Monty Don, Nick Clegg and Kate Adie will host a series of talks and events at Kew Gardens from September 22 to 25.

The second literary festival at the gardens will feature a line-up of more than 70 authors, among them novelists Francesca Simon, AS Byatt and Maggie O’Farrell, comedians Ben Miller and David Baddiel, politician Alan Johnson, broadcasters Reverend Richard Coles and John Crace, scientists AC Grayling and Susan Greenfield and Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain, who is appearing alongside the show’s presenter Mel Giedroyc.

Kew Gardens’ director Richard Deverell said: “We were delighted to see the huge appetite for, and fantastically warm response to, our first literary festival last autumn.

“We cannot wait to welcome back authors and book lovers alike. Kew is so much more than just a botanic garden, it is a hub of contemporary, creative thinking, at the fore-front of both the science and arts worlds.

“I am thrilled that this festival is fast becoming an absolute must on the literary circuit.”
