Gun raider jailed for four years
A man who conspired to rob a family with a sawn-off shotgun and then wrote a letter of apology to his victims has been jailed for four years.
Issa Bakhit, 21, was a member of a masked gang who left the Larkin family cowering inside their Boileau Road home in Barnes as they attempted to storm the property.
Bakhit was told he must serve at least half the sentence by Judge Shani Barnes when he appeared at Kingston Crown Court yesterday after having pled guilty to conspiracy to robbery.
Judge Barnes described the incident, which happened on March 8, 2007, as "appalling and terrifying." She said: "That family will never get over what you did to them."
Mitigating for the defendant Matthew Paul said Bakhit had written a letter to the Larkins saying: "It was not my intention to harm any of you. I regret everything that happened."
The other members of the gang were brothers Devon and Dean Lewis, who were jailed for 10 years each in December, along with Omar Hutson and Billy Pearce who received six year prison terms.
Mr Paul said although Bahkit was involved he was not organising or controlling.
Judge Barnes added: "Because you owed Dean Lewis money he goaded and cajoled you into going along."
