TEENAGERS will have a chance to improve safety and fight crime in their towns if they win a community-safety competition.
The On the Safe Side programme is being organised by Lewisham Council.
It will encourage seven to 13-year-olds to take an interest in crime reduction and community safety in their borough.
Winners of the contest will receive a cash prize from the council to implement their ideas.
Entries for the competition can be presented in a variety of formats including video, pictures or text.
The programme is being co-ordinated by schools and youth clubs. Entries close at the end of the Easter Term, 2001.
