A scout group in Twickenham has received an £8,000 grant to improve their scout hut.

The 13th Twickenham (St Mary’s) Scout Group was given the money by Heathrow Community Fund to help with the £19,000 plans for the hut at Seymour Gardens.

The group aims to extend the existing building, built in 1962, in order to add a new storeroom.

They also plan to remove a decaying pre-fabrication garage erected in the 1990s which is currently used for storage.

Chairman of the group’s Scout executive committee Debbie Kingston said "We are delighted to have this grant which, along with our fundraising events and contributions from other local organisations, should enable us to extend the building this year."
