Over the weekend the Environment Agency issued further flood warnings for the borough for areas including Hampton, Hampton Court, Hampton Wick and Teddington.

The agency said properties on the Barge Walk, Hampton Court Palace Golf Club and Hampton Court Road were expected to flood and water levels could reach higher than those seen in January 2003.

Properties closest to the River Thames between Raven’s Ait and Teddington Weir and between Platts Eyot to Hampton Court Bridge were also under threat.

People who live in an area at risk of flooding are advised to take action to protect themselves and their properties.

Simon Hughes, Regional Manager, at the Environment Agency, said: “We encourage everyone at risk of flooding to listen to and co-operate with the emergency services, particularly those in the areas where severe flood warnings have been issued.

“Our teams are out in force checking that flood defences and barriers are in good working order and our Flood Ambassadors are on the ground helping people and communities.”
