A sealed-off post box has caused a stir in east Twickenham over the past couple of weeks.
The box in Cambridge Parade, Richmond Road, has been out of action for some time.
Royal Mail spokeswoman Sally Hopkins said the post box, which is about 100 years old, has been closed due to a problem with the door.
She said: “The box was cleared of mail before it was sealed so no items were left inside it.
“Royal Mail apologises to customers in Twickenham for any inconvenience this may have caused.
“We are in the process of fixing the door and hope to be able to repen the box within the next two weeks.
"In the meantime, customers can use other postboxes in the area or drop their mail off at any Post Office branch.”
